     According to Proverbs 18:21, "death and life are in the power of the tongue (language)" The writer of Proverbs was obviously a Hebrew speaker and therefore this verse is speaking specifically of the Hebrew "tongue" or language.  Therefore, Hebrew contains words of life and/or death.  If we can reap what we sow, then we can be blessed and/or cursed by the words we speak.
